Hair Transplant Cost in Liverpool

The cost of a hair transplant is affected by a few factors such as the type of hair transplant procedure, the area to be transplanted, the hair loss amount to be restored, the hair type that is being worked on to name a few.

Our hair transplant pricing starts from £3,000 for very small cases such as an eyebrow and can go up to £7,000 for larger cases. We also provide finance options to patients in order to spread the cost over a longer period of time to make it more manageable.

How Much Does a Hair Transplant Cost?

The NHS states that the cost of a hair transplant in the UK ranges from £1,000 up to £30,000. This is a very large range that doesn’t have much context for patients. Typically a lower cost option (£1,000 – £4,000) is going to be technician-led, meaning that the doctor supervises multiple procedures at once.

We believe that the best quality of work and outcomes for patients are when the doctor performs the procedure and has 1 patient per day so that they are the sole focus of the clinical team.

What’s the Cost per Graft in Liverpool ?

We don’t charge on a strict per graft basis as there are other variables that can affect the cost. That being said, we typically work on a cost per surface area. Our team are trained and have years of experience of past patients and what grafts numbers should be needed for a particular surface area size. Here is a breakdown/guide:

A 500 graft hair transplant usually costs £3,000–£3,500. This is our entry point and is typically reserved for an eyebrow transplant.

A 1,000 graft procedure costs around £4,000–£4,500. This graft number is typically used for small beard areas or minor hairline restoration.

The average cost for 1,500 grafts is £4,500–£5,000. This number usually supports denser beard work or more defined hairlines.

A 2,000 graft procedure costs £5,500–£6,000. This is one of the most common graft numbers for patients with a receding hairline or crown thinning.

The price for 2,500 grafts ranges from £6,000–£6,500. At this level, surgeons usually cover multiple areas or a single larger area with more density.

The maximum single-session size is often 3,000 grafts, priced at £6,500–£7,000. Our surgeons avoid exceeding this number in one procedure to protect donor hair and support recovery.

A 4,000 graft procedure typically requires two stages. The total price is £9,500–£10,000. Surgeons recommend staging to avoid over-harvesting and to prioritise healing of the donor area.

A 5,000 graft transplant also requires two stages. The combined cost is £11,000–£12,000. This option suits patients with extensive hair loss needing maximum coverage.

What’s Included in the Cost ?

The cost that is given to our patients covers everything from the initial patient advisor consultation through to the surgeon consultation. It also covers the clinical team fees on the day namely the surgeon fees, technician fees, clinic fees, equipment and consumables fees. Not to forget the aftercare and post surgery support is also included in the cost.

Factors That Influence Hair Transplant Prices

As briefly talked about above, there are certain factors that can influence the price of a hair transplant. From the simple to the more complicated ones, they are:

  1. The size of the surface area of hair loss. The larger it is, the more hair that is required to be transplanted and so more work is involved which brings the cost up.
  2. The quality of the donor area. If the quality is good, this typically means that the surgery should go as planned. If the donor area quality is limited or not good, this makes the surgery more challenging and so can have an effect on the cost of the hair transplant.
  3. The method used. FUE tends to be the more affordable options when compared with FUT and DHI. FUT requires extra technicians to slither the strip and DHI requires special tools called the CHOI pen which increase the price.
  4. The experience and expertise of the surgeon. This one is fairly simple with more experienced surgeons demanding a higher fee and so a hair transplant will cost more from an experienced surgeon than a beginner.
  5. The reputation, facilities and location of the clinic. Clinics in the heart of the city centre tend to be more expensive as the rents and rates are more expensive in the centre. Also clinics with a good reputation and awards will be more expensive as they will be in more demand.

FUE vs FUT vs DHI Costs

As mentioned previously, the 3 different hair transplant methodologies carry with them different costs. Lets break them down:

  • FUE tends to be the more affordable option as all things being equal in all 3 different methods, there are usually 2-3 technicians. Larger cases require more technicians as there are more hairs to be worked on and so this is one of the reasons for the rising cost.
  • FUT requires an extra technician when comparing to FUE as well as extra microscopes to be able to slither and work on the extracted grafts. This typically means that FUT will be circa £500 – £1000 more expensive than FUE.
  • DHI finally requires specialist equipment called CHOI pens that cost more then the FUE forceps. Also there is a different approach to implanting where the doctor does all of this too whilst the technicians are loading the pens and so these factors also increase the cost by around £500 more in comparison to FUE.

The best value and most popular method is of course the FUE, however this requires shaving of the donor area and sometimes the recipient area as well. Because of this, some people can choose the DHI method for the non shaved recipient area approach (the donor still needs shaving with DHI). Women tend to prefer FUT because there is no need to shave the donor area.

Finance & Payment Plans

We have partnered up with a finance provider that offers 0% interest loans over a period of 11 months. This is to help patients with spreading the cost of a hair transplant over a longer period of time to make repayments easier to handle as a hair transplant is typically a high front-loaded investment that pays dividends over the years to come. Before exploring finance options, it helps to understand the full range of hair transplant costs in the UK and what factors determine your final graft count and price. More information on finance plans can be found here.

I wanted to say a big thank you to Harley Street HTC, Dr Ditta and the team. I went to get a recovery hair transplant after I had my first one done in Turkey and I must say that the difference is night and day. The experience at Harley Street was incredible.

Kevin was very helpful and put my mind at ease with all my questions before my surgery. I’ve visited serval hair transplant clinics and what they said to me just did not sound right and the price they were giving where outrageous and at one point I wanted to leave the hair transplant. However after speaking to Kevin and his team they have regain my confidence and courage to get this done. I would fully recommend Harley Street if anyone who is wanting to get a hair transplant.

After years of struggling with thinning hair I finally decided a permanent solution was required. Much research found hair transplant Liverpool and I started the consultation process. Kevin was very patient as I explored and questioned options that would fit my situation. We eventually settled on a two stage process with the assurance that they would be able to get a good level of coverage. A short trip to their Bury location and the process began. What an amazing team. Dr Kalra took lots of time designing the hairline and I was fully included in the process as I explained what I wanted and was then guided by his expert knowledge. The first stage was 2000 grafts and that sounded daunting. A bit of prep to prepare the donor area for taking the grafts was done with care as they shaved an area in between the top and bottom of my ponytail so that the graft area would not be seen afterwards as the shaved area grew out. Then the only slight pain as the numbing injections went in. 5 rounds of those but after the 2nd round things were quite numb. Having the grafts taken was not painful but I was aware as each was taken. Then a short break and on to numbing the front area ready for implantation. More injections but soon over and over to Dr Kalra to carefully make the 2000 incisions ready for the grafts to go in to. A short break again for lunch and a drink then on to a 3 hour implant session where the team took great care to place each of the grafts in to their new home. Slight pain towards the end as the numbing wore of on the donor area but a couple of paracetamol later and it was ok. Then before I knew it I was talking to Dr Kalra again about aftercare and receiving my care pack. That evening was a bit sore but easily managed by paracetamol and ibuprofen. I slept propped up in bed with a neck pillow and woke up to tightness in the donor and implant areas but no need for any more pain meds. Ok...it looked red and sore but keeping up with the aftercare helped and at day 5 I washed my hair gently. Now at day 6 and almost all tightness gone. There was a little swelling around my eyes but this passed in two days. A review is planned at 3 months then 2nd session at 6 months. I was extremely well cared for and initial results are looking very good. I will post some pics as everything settles down but I am very pleased so far and so glad I chose and trusted the

Thoroughly recommend anybody considering having a hair transplant procedure to use Hair Transplant Liverpool based on my excellent experience with them. Had a brilliant consultation with Kevin who talked through the procedure and calmed my fears and nerves about the treatment. Big thanks to Dr. Nayak and his team for the professionalism and care given to me at the surgery and from then on. It's been 5 months since I had the procedure and I couldn't be any happier with the results.
