The first part was a consultation with Sara. Sara explained everything about the procedure and answered all my questions. She also showed me examples of other past patients that had a similar procedure to mine and the results. FYI, HSHTC was the only clinic that showed me these pictures of previous work done and the results.
I also had an initial video consultation with Dr Ditta before surgery to go over everything. I explained what I wanted to achieve and Dr Ditta answered all of my questions and agreed that what I was looking to achieve was possible. He also asked me to come for an in person consultation to assess my donor area.
During my in person consultation, Dr Ditta walked me through the process and marked on my head 2 suggestions for hair line designs that worked for my face and muscle structure to give me an idea of what’s achievable. He also had a look at my donor area and explained which area would be used to extract the grafts.
On the day of the procedure, I was greeted by Dr Ditta at 8:30am and taken up to the consultation room. We went through the plan for the day and discussed the hairline again as well as drawing on the hairline and marking the donor area. He then gave me a patient gown/t-shirt to put on and we went into the surgery room. The team then shaved my donor area and applied local anaesthetic.
Dr Ditta then proceeded to extract the hairs from the back of my head whilst the assistants helped him by taking the hairs out. I was regularly asked if I was ok and if the anaesthetic needed topping up or not. After finishing this process, a dressing pad was put on and I had a break for lunch.
When the break was over. Dr Ditta made the graft sites by first applying local anaesthetic and then did the incisions. Then the team implanted the donor area extracted hairs.
Once everything was finished, I was taken back into the consultation room, went over the aftercare instructions again. A care package was also given that contained antibiotics, spray bottle with saline solution, shampoo, antiseptic cream, a travel pillow and gauze swabs. I also got the aftercare info sent to me in the form of a link to log in and view all the videos and instructions which was very useful in reminding me of the small details.
Overall, I had a great experience.
